Special Needs: Ages 3 - 8
Jump! offers classes for children with downsyndrome, autism and ADHD.
The Special Needs class will introduce simple locomotive movements, basic gymnastics positions and begin skill development on each of the gymnastics events.
Experimentation, exploration and discovery are the most effective ways of promoting learning.
Early, positive movement experiences have many physical, cognitive and emotional benefits.
Physical Benefits include increases in
muscular strength, endurance and flexibility,
hand/eye and foot/eye coordination,
the ability to balance and use leverage,
the ability to move around the 3 axis of the body,
the ability to demonstrate action/reaction,
the ability to control own body weight.
Psychological Benefits of participation include the
joy of movement mastery,
discipline and self control,
exercise as a pleasurable habit,
awareness of rhythm and continuity,
using movement for problem solving,
awareness of space and directions,
and self expression through movement.
